There are some books that just stick with you. And they're so important to you, you assume everyone has read them already. However, a recent conversation with a friend reminded me that this isn't always the case.
Here are four EXCELLENT books—in alphabetical order—that you should read if you haven't yet.
Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel: This book was so exciting for me to read, because I felt like I was reading a transformative, legacy book as it became famous. Every other "great" book was already around when I started my FI journey, but this one came in, said something new, and was just really eye-opening to how people handle money and finances.
Raising Your Money-Savvy Family For Next Generation Financial Independence by Doug Nordman and Carol Pittner: This book CHANGED how I taught my kids about money. I made immediate changes (and I had thought I was doing a good job on this front) after reading it. Doug is an intelligent, thoughtful dad who started teaching his daughter about money when she was 2 or 3. If you have children of any age, this book is a must-read!
Set for Life by Scott Trench: I love Scott, and I love his way of thinking. This is an excellent book—and the high school graduation gift I give to everyone in my life—because Scott easily and thoroughly explains exactly how to build a financial runway to start yourself off successfully as an adult.
The Purpose Code by Jordan Grumet: I cannot stop thinking about the message in Jordan's latest book. To be able to find your true purpose is a gift, and he walks you through exactly how to do it. Every chapter tells a story that illustrates what he's hoping you can accomplish during the end-of-chapter homework. It's not an easy or quick read, but it is definitely a must-read. |
