Are you still paying attention? To recent housing and economic news, that is. Or, have you resigned yourself to the “ignorance is bliss” approach? 

I wouldn’t blame you either way. It can be exhausting to keep up with all the recent economic and housing market news. Mortgage rates are down! Actually, now they’re up. Tariffs are on. Now they’re off. Even for slightly obsessive news watchers like me, it can be pretty hard to keep track of it all. 

Amidst all the constant headlines, are investors starting to grow complacent, missing red flags in the market? That’s what the boss of the biggest bank in the world, Jamie Dimon, thinks. The CEO of JPMorgan Chase stated last week that he thinks investors are not fully accounting for new risks and need to be more prepared. 

But we’ve heard this tune before. Another week, another doom-and-gloom prediction, right? Or is this really the time we see the economy start to falter, taking investor profits down with it? 

I don’t pretend to know what will happen with any certainty, but I find it hard to deny that the economy has a lot of risks (along with some upsides), and investors should think through how they want to weather a potential storm. Here are some ideas I’m considering myself, but would love to hear how you all are thinking about the coming year. Let me know!
